buddypress lets you turn any wordpress blog into a social networking site.
I also think it’s free and was created by the makers of wordpress.

Yes, but you have to be a PREMIUM user to be able to do it, it means, pay for it.

Read carefully “zohrats” comment, I’m network creator and he is ABSOLUTELY right.

Hi Lisa, NING seems to be cool yes, and it IS, but right now after they are existingfor quite some time, their true face is shown. NING is like the Illuminati for social networking. Once you are hooked, you ain’t going nowhere. You don’t own your own content and you can not do what you REALLY want. What people have to keep in mind is that we, the network creators are the ones who make NING popular, not NING itssself. NING sucks really so i advise people to NEVER get hooked to it..

I don’t see the point in trying to compete with the larger social networking sites such as FB or MySpace but there’s always room for one if you create one for an existing site with an existing audience like I mentioned in the video.

sorry so late. That’s a tough one. You really need to learn the basics of uploading files to a web host and editing the files per the instructions. Hard to really teach that. I learned by simply doing and googling things for help, but without knowing the language your script is written in it is very hard to give specific instructions.

I agree with everything you’re saying. Would it even be reasonable to start a social networking site? Isn’t it pretty much a conquered market by the bigger, established sites? Especially if one is trying to make a lot of money. Since, this is pretty much the fact, what’s next? What do you see as being the next internet fad so-to-speak? Anybody?

Yeah you can get the ning taken outta the site name and remove ning promotional links. You can get more server space and bandwidth as well. You can also control the google ads that get shown on your site. All of this costs money but its all less than $50 each/month.
Great videos Lisa, I have just found them and am glad I did!

Ads and sponsors. Once you can create a site that is heavily trafficked, making money from advertising is one of the easiest ways to monetize it. The hard part is getting to the traffic. That’s where the average person struggles.
