Set Goals to Your Online Home Business

Saturday, June 27th, 2009
When it comes to having success online and staying motivated, setting online home business goals is essential. If you have goals to strive toward, you will find yourself doing whatever you can to achieve them. Here are five tips to setting online business goals effectively.

1. Short term goals

The first thing you want to do is set short term goals to work toward. This can be something like getting your first customer within the first two weeks or generating a certain amount of visitors in the first few weeks. In this way you stay motivated and excited about your business.

2. Long term goals

After you have set short term goals, you want to give yourself goals to strive for in the future. These can be as long as a few years away to a few months away. The point is to give yourself something to strive for down the road so you do whatever it takes to keep your online home business alive. With the internet as competitive as it is, you want to believe in what you are capable of.

3. Challenge yourself

The whole point of having online home business goals is to challenge yourself and give yourself something to work for. If your goals are too easy to achieve, you will not get anywhere. In order to make it on the internet, you have to be willing to push yourself and work towards limits you did not know you were capable of reaching.

4. Be reasonable

While it is essential you challenge yourself, it is just as important that you are reasonable. There is more harm than gain for your business if your goals are not possible to attain. You have to find a balance between too easy and too difficult. You will only kill your confidence if you never achieve the goals you have set upped.

5. Reward yourself

The last tip to setting online business goals is rewarding yourself. You should always reward yourself after you have achieved some of your goals. If you reach a short term goal, you can give yourself a smaller reward like treating yourself ice cream. But if you achieve a long term goal with much more magnitude, do not be afraid to splurge a little bit.

Setting goals can do wonders for your online home business. You stay motivated if you have something to strive forward. With the internet as competitive as it is, it is vital you challenge yourself and push yourself to new limits.

10 Online Home Business Marketing Tips

Thursday, June 25th, 2009
I get asked from people all the time, “What is the most important part of online marketing? Is it having the best website? Or is it having the right product?” The answer is…neither. While this may surprise some of you, it’s really the truth. Here’s why.

You can have the most amazing website with audio, video, or flash, etc., along with the absolute perfect product, but unless you have traffic coming to your site…you don’t really have an online home business. People have to be able to find you in order for you to experience the massive success you’re looking for. And isn’t that what you’re really wanting?

So what are the best ways to get an endless parade of visitors to your website? Here are some of the best methods to begin getting the most amount of traffic…quickly.

1. Pay-per-click search engines. With this method you are paying for every targeted visitor to your site. You bid on specific keywords, or keyword phrases, and when someone clicks on your ad, you pay the amount you had set up for your bid. Goggle Adwords and Yahoo Sponsored Search are the two major players in the pay-per-click arena. This method is great for those who are looking for immediate traffic. You can be set up and have your ad showing in the search engines in minutes. But be careful, PPC ads can get very expensive in a hurry.

2. Search engines. You’re going to want to optimize your website no matter what other types of marketing you do. You will need to optimize your web pages in order to achieve a higher ranking in the search engines under the keywords you’ve chosen. You can do it yourself, or you can find companies that will do it for you for a price. Anything lower than a page 4 ranking is not going to generate much traffic to your website. For do-it-yourselfers, a great place that teaches search engine optimization is searchenginewatch.com/.

3. Link exchanges. Make a list of other websites in your product market, preferably ones with a high search engine ranking, and ask them if they would trade links with you. You both will benefit from this by getting increased traffic from each other’s sites. In addition, many of the search engines place a high relevance on the number of link partners you have. Those who have more links will often get a higher placement by the search engines.

4. Ezine Ads. Ezines are a great way to have targeted traffic going to your website. The ads are quite affordable, and best of all, they work. You can find a list of ezines in your target market by doing a simple search through one of the search engines. I highly recommend this form of advertising.

5. Online forums. Another great way to build your Internet home business is through online forums. Do a search online for a list of forums in your product, or business area. Then you can sign up for the various forums and offer your expert advice in your targeted area. By posting in the forums you will soon become a recognized expert in your field. At the bottom of every post you make you can add your signature file that includes a link to your website. This will generate a great deal of traffic from those who are reading your posts and interested in knowing more about you and your business.

6. Referrals. This is one of the oldest and easiest online marketing tips there is. Simply ask your customers who they know that may also be interested in what you have, or what you’re doing. You can even offer your customers an incentive for recommending others. Use your imagination with this.

7. Newsletters. By having your own newsletter you can quickly keep in touch with your subscribers and customers. This will help to build your credibility and allow you to continue to market your products, or business opportunity, on a consistent basis. You can even offer a drawing or giveaway to your readers to generate increased interest.

8. Articles. Writing articles about your area of expertise and submitting them to ezine directories can generate lots of traffic to your site. At the bottom of your article you will include a small “about the author” paragraph, along with your website address. Your article could appear in literally hundred of sites due to the high demand for quality articles. This is a great long-term strategy to getting traffic to your online home business.

9. Get indexed. You can list your website with indexes such as the Open Directory, or Yahoo! Once you’re indexed, you can expect a significant increase in traffic to your website.

10. Give away an e-Book. Or better yet, give away a viral e-Book. You can simply offer a free e-Book to all of your website visitors who fill out a form you design. In exchange, you’re able to build your list of prospects that you can send emails to forever. Encourage others to give away your e-Book. By doing that you will have countless other people also going to your website. This is free traffic that you had nothing to do with.

The bottom line to Internet marketing is being consistent with whatever you do. Pick out 2-3 methods from this list that you like, and do them continuously. Not just once in a while, or when you feel like it, but all the time. Make a commitment to yourself, and to your online home business. In doing so, you’ll begin building a long-term, successful business.

Online Home Business Advice to Take Control of Your Life

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
Do you dream of being boss free and having the freedom of being able to control when you work and where you work? It is not something you could do working in a job because you have a boss who tells you what to do and when to do it. Imagine having an online home business that would give you this control.

Due to the fact that people are now much more comfortable making purchases online you really can make a lot of money on the Internet with your own home business today. You have the opportunity to get a piece of the action if you know what they are spending their month on.

In order for you to decide what would be the best thing for you to do a useful piece of online business advice is to take the time to sit down with your family. They may even be able to assist you and you will certainly need their support.

You need to be disciplined to work in your own home environment and one mistake people make when starting an online business is that they do not work hard enough. It is important to understand that you must produce the results yourself as there is nobody else to do it for you. The work you put in is going to determine your success.

Working from home requires that you get into a routine as soon as possible and so it is advisable to set up a schedule for when you work and when you don’t. Also by scheduling breaks into your day will prompt you to get away and get a little bit of balance in your life, especially if you are a workaholic.

Those who learn to master the skills it takes to succeed will be the people who make money with their own online home business. It is really important that you are prepared to put in the time and are prepared to educate yourself anyway you can to learn how to be successful online.

Seriously consider finding a mentor and start spending some time with them. You can do this easily by joining their online newsletter, reading their blog, listening to archived Webinars or you could consider joining an online mentoring group.

So many people get impatient and give up too quickly when they are not getting the results that they want because they do not realize that building and running an online home business is a marathon and not a sprint. If you treat your online home business like a real business and not a hobby you put yourself in the frame of mind to make better business decisions and you will relish success when you achieve it.

Ways to Network With Your Online Home Business Visitors

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
We sometimes forget about the little things that really matter, such as networking or communicating on a personal level with our website visitors and this is mainly due to the fact that the internet makes it easy to build an online home business.

Let’s have a look at a few of the opportunities that you have to interact on a personal level with your website visitors and customers.

Blogs are so popular these days and most people do have them but are they being utilized fully. For example are you inviting your readers to leave comments?

It is common practice to visit blogs and leave comments as it is a popular internet marketing method. Have you ever taken the time to email those who post comments and thank them for their post or offer assistance to a query about your home business online?

We receive so much email these days that is obviously sent out by an auto-responder that people are often surprised and pleased to receive a personal email and this very often opens the doors for further communication.

Usually whenever anyone joins your online home business or purchases a product from you, you will be notified of their email address. By sending a thank you or welcome email gives you the opportunity to open up the communication channels and the exchange of ideas could be extremely valuable.

Come out from your website and stop hiding behind your auto-responder and put the “You” back into doing business online. Don’t under-estimate how huge the impact on your home business could be.

By opening up these channels of communication you will be surprised at the value and benefits that you can provide each other. Just a simple email from a post on your blog could create a lucrative business relationship.

How frustrated do you get when you send an email and never receive a response. Replying to emails you receive, no matter how insignificant they may seem, is just common courtesy and certainly something that should never be overlooked.

If you invite people to email you from your website, an advert or an auto-responder email then at least take a few minutes to write a decent reply to them. Don’t put you reputation at risk by writing short and abrupt emails. You never know where this simple task may lead.

It is a tremendous help to your website visitors if you have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section, but often if they want more detailed information regarding an online home business they will email you and you should do you best to respond to the best of your ability and offer honest advice.

Networking could certainly benefit your online home business in the future if you implement these ideas on how to communicate and network with your website visitors.
